Saatva Classic seems to be a favorite of Reddit users.
You can take a look here, and read several reviews.
In the field of mattresses on the internet, Saatva stands apart in fundamental ways. Saatva ships its mattresses via truckinstead of the form of a box. And even though, like other online sellers they have progressively expanded its line, Saatva remains focused on a range of “luxury” models, each costing less than its Youth model, over $1500 (for the queen size). Saatva Classic Reddit
There’s no doubt that there’s a galaxy of mattresses that are more lavish than Saatva’s. They have higher coil counts and finer materials.
But we find Saatva’s mattresses to be among the most elegant-looking and thoughtfully designed choices that are available from an online business.
Over the last three years, our team has gathered to test the insidespring Saatva Classic, the memory-foam Loom and Leaf, as well as the all-latex Zenhaven, and they’ve consistently earned a spot as one of our top choices in our reviews of the top foam mattresses and the best innerspring mattresses.
We’ve also experienced sleeping on Saatva’s Saatva Mid-Latex Hybrid, and we’ve researched the construction and components of the rest of the mattresses in the Saatva lineup. The majority of mattresses sold online are foams or hybrids, therefore this Saatva Classic stands out. It’s among the few innerspring mattresses that you can purchase online.
Pocketed coils give this Saatva Classic a good amount of bounce near the top. The plush top adds softness. Additionally, like the rest of Saatva’s mattresses they are delivered by movers. Saatva Classic is delivered by moving trucks, not in boxes. Saatva also offers a generous 180-day trial period and simple returns.
All-foam Loom & Leaf is constructed with more dense memory foam than the majority of under-$1,000 mattresses, so it’s less likely to shift over time. For that reason, it’s better for people who weigh greater than 200 pounds.
The quilted, thick cover is cushier and more sturdy than the sock-like cover of most foam mattresses and it makes the memory-foam layer underneath feel less soft and squishy.
As you’d expect with an innerspring mattress the Loom & Leaf limits motion better that the innerspring Saatva Classic.Zenhaven is a 100% foam mattress. Zenhaven comprises primarily of latex-specifically Talalay latex, which is made of the rubber tree’s milky sap and is intrinsically tough. Talalay is less brittle than Dunlop latex that is commonly found in the less expensive latex mattresses that we’ve tried.
Zenhaven is a good choice. Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels moderately firm, while it’s Gentle Firm side feels a little more firm), which might prove helpful if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your preferences change over time.
It’s not a typical cushy mattress, but it provides a comfortable cushion, excellent edge support, as well as a subtle springiness.
Due to its inherent durability, the Zenhaven should work well for those who weigh greater than 200 pounds. Saatva Classic Reddit
Saatva’s portfolio of beds-many with a choice of firmness levels and catering to almost every comfort preference-includes:
- Saatva Classic (innerspring)
- Loom & Leaf (all foam)
- Zenhaven (all latex)
- Saatva Latex Hybrid (latex with coils)
- Solaire (a Bed with adjustable air chambers)
- Saatva HD (a latex-coil hybrid specifically designed for those who weigh 300 to 500 pounds)
- Saatva Youth (a foam-coil-based hybrid designed for kids aged 3 to 12)
We haven’t yet done a deep dive into what we consider to be the “natural” claims made by Saatva or the other “eco-friendly” companies.
However, we know that Saatva uses thistle or organic wool as a fire retardant (as in contrast to fiberglass or chemicals) as well as only natural cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers.
As do other online mattress companies, Saatva touts such extras as zones for “optimal spinal support” but we’re not impressed with those features but we’re more impressed by Saatva’s customer service that is responsive and durable foams and coils. Saatva Classic Reddit
Saatva Video Review
Who’s it intended forThe Saatva Classic will likely be a good fit for those who prefer a cushy (but not too billowy) top layer as well as an extremely durable, supple feel. This Luxury Firm version (Saatva’s “Medium” offering) We tested it is a good choice for the back, sidestomach and side-sleepers. The more softer Plush Soft version is targeted to side-sleepers and the Firm versioncaters for stomach and back-sleepers.
What it feels like:We tested the Luxury Firm version of the Saatva Classic – the brand’s most sought-after model. We found it to be soft on top, and with excellent support and bounce. It begins with a squarely medium-firm feel, but it becomes softer after a period of break-in time of about a month.
We like:The Saatva Classic is one of the very few innerspring mattresses you can purchase online without the ease more often associated with purchasing a boxed foam mattress. It has 416 strong, solid coils at its base for support and 884 individually wrapped, more flexible coils on top to provide pressure relief. There’s a small amount of memory foam included in the mix, though the actual cushioning comes from a 3-inch polyfoam-and-fiber Euro top (an extra layer of cushion sewn under the surface). The resulting feel has broad appeal-supportive, resilient, and with a softness that doesn’t feel bulky.
We test the 14 1/2-inch Saatva Classic in Luxury Firm in a group test of innersprings (it’s offered in 11 inches), and it captured the second-highest number of top-pick votes (nine from 39 testers) in the category of $1,000 to $2,000 (which included three other mattresses: the Avocado, the Parachute and the top-ranked WinkBed). Five of those nine testers loved their Saatva Classic better than any of the other mattresses tested in the test that day, including those that cost twice as expensive; two of the nine testers selected the Saatva Classic as their second-favorite overall.
For the home test I was looking at it as if I could sleep in this bed every night. I’m not a fan overly billowy bed, so I was pleased that the Classic’s Euro top offered what felt to me to be just the perfect amount of cuddle. The bed is bouncy however not enough that my husband’s rolling over woke me up-to me, the buoyed up feel was worth the sacrifice in motion isolation.
Around $1,600 if it’s not on sale (though it’s often) The Saatva Classic is the least expensive innerspring mattress we’ve tried that feels thick and luxurious. It also has the advantage the fact that you can pick between three levels of firmness-Plush Luxurious Firm, Soft, or Firm, so you’ll be able to find the right one regardless of the mattress you’re sleeping in. Unlike the more-billowy WinkBed which is another option in the innerspring mattress guide Saatva Classic is Saatva Classic is delivered unboxed by moving companies (so that the “new mattress smell” is already gone from the factory and while in transit) This “white glove” delivery is absolutely free. Saatva offers a huge 180-day trial period as well as an extended warranty of 15 years.
We don’t likeabout: If you don’t like the bounce of a mattress, or are sensitive to your sleeping partner’s movements while in bed it’s likely that you won’t be a fan of the Saatva Classic. Although all the coils on top are wrapped individually the bottom ones aren’t, which means that the mattress has more motion transfer than the other innerspring options, such as the WinkBed. If you don’t like any bounce it’s better to go with Saatva’s Loom & Leaf.
The Saatva Classic also requires a bit of break-in time. When we first tested the mattress in 2018 it was medium-firm. one year and a quarter later we noticed that it’s softened a little however in a pleasing manner (at at least to me). This is not an “Soft” mattress However, those who prefer it might be interested in the Plush Soft version, which we haven’t tested yet.
While the company claims to have an “active Lumbar Zone” technology for “additional back support” my spouse (who weighs in the vicinity of 200 pounds) wanted more support when he was in the Luxury Firm. He may have found it in the Firm version however, we haven’t tried it yet, so we don’t know for sure. In general, we are not overly impressed with zones, as people have different heights and shapes, and they could spread out in a way that doesn’t match the zoning patterns.
The foam densities of Saatva Classic are lower than those in Saatva Classic are less than those of the Loom & Leaf, the company’s foam-mattress offering. Although representatives of the company would not divulge the details, we were told the density of memory foam is at minimum 3 pounds per cubic foot and the polyfoam density equals 1 1/2 pounds of cubic feet.
This isn’t as great as those of the Loom & Leaf, but the specifications are standard in an innerspring mattress and particularly one in this price category. In contrast to foam mattresses, these mattresses’ steel coils offer extra support and quilting could help prevent body impressions.
But , as this Reddit thread suggests, some sleepers have had better luck on the Saatva mattresses over many years than others; we think this likely depends on the size and shape of the person sleeping on it. Like all Europillows, or mattresses with a pillow top the heavier you are the higher the chance of experiencing sagging and impressions over time.
Therefore, you should turn your mattress regularly at least every six months. You should also sleep over the bed.
Saatva Classic top owner-review feedback
We found just 39 reviews from owners that were of high quality (those that weren’t untrue or unclear and were written in the past, both in the years 2019 and 2020). Although the sample size is relatively small, we think it’s interesting that more than 30% of positive comments praised Saatva’s customer service. That’s a much bigger percentage than what we’ve seen from other mattress brands online.
Also, six reviewers had mentioned sagging as a problem; one of these reviewers had a weight of more than 200 pounds while the others had a lower weight or did not mention. The majority of them had been using the mattress for more than a year at the time the review was written. This indicates that turning the mattress is essential and heavier individuals who enjoy innersprings might consider the option of a mattress made from more durable latex foam, such as that of the Charles P. Rogers Estate SE. Saatva Classic Reddit
Saatva Loom & Leaf
Who is it to be used for This all foam Loom & Leaf appeals to those who appreciate memory foam that cradles, as opposed to engulfing them in a tense, sluggish hug. The soft Relaxed Firm model could be ideal for sleepers on the side. This version, called Firm is made to be used by stomach- or back-sleepers. Anyone who weighs more than 200 pounds may be able to find the Firm version to be more supportive than the Relaxed Firm.
The way it feels:The Relaxed Firm is a mattress with a moderate firmness that holds you without pulling you in. it’s the firm (which we’ve tried only in an actual showroom) is much firmer.
What we like: The 12-inch-thick Loom & Leaf comes with an extremely durable, quilted cover similar to that you’d find on a high-quality innerspring mattress (by contrast, many memory foam mattresses are made of sock-like, thin covers). The cover is made of foam padding, which adds an additional dimension to the usually simple squishiness of memory foam mattresses. I lay on the Relaxed Firm at home for more than an entire week and liked that it was cuddly and solid at the same time. My husband, who likes mattresses that are firm and weighs just less than 200 pounds, which is 70 pounds more than me-thought the mattress was too soft.
Whereas most online mattresses have a memory-foam density in the 3-pounds-per-cubic-foot range, the Loom & Leaf’s top layer has a 4-pounds-per-cubic-foot density with a gel-infused layer meant to assist with cooling (though cooling features like gel and perforations tend to have minimal impact). The mattress also has a 5-pounds-per-cubic-foot memory-foam layer underneath that top layer. Based on these specs it is our opinion that this mattress will be less likely to sag or form body indentions as compared to cheaper foam mattresses, even for those who weigh more than 200 pounds (though it may not be suitable when you weigh over 250 pounds; check the owner review feedback below). As with every foam mattress offers quality motion isolation.
In 2020, we tested our Loom & Leaf Relaxed Firm against the Serta iComfort (both are all-foam mattresses that cost over $1,000), and twenty-one out of 29 users preferred the Loom & Leaf. “It was more comfortable” was the most frequent explanation; some even described it as being more “cushioned.” When we examined with it against the Casper Wave in 2019 the results were less unified (18 in favor of the Wave 16 , for it; 16 for the Loom & Leaf). The people who chose that Loom & Leaf preferred its “cushier” or “more conforming” feeling or the quilting’s texture; those who chose the Casper Wave described the Wave as having more support , and the Loom & Leaf as making them feel more “stuck.”
We also like it that Loom & Leaf, like the rest of Saatva Company’s mattresses, comes delivered without boxes, by movers. That means you don’t have to blow it out like many boxed mattresses; most off-gassing has likely already been done in the factory.
We don’t love HTML0: We wish Saatva offered a firmness level between Relaxed Firm and Firm. two levels appear to be at least a few gradations between them. Although Loom & Leaf Loom & Leaf has better edge support than the other popular online models (such as the Leesa and the Casper), it’s not as durable as a Hybrid (like those like the Leesa Hybrid or Tempur-Adapt).
Despite the Loom & Leave’s cooler gel, as well as its pin core (punctured) design touted on the top layer, I did sleep a little warmer on this mattress which was surprising because I’m usually cold. But given that it was the middle in winter, I did not feel any of it. The tiny holes designed for cooling might compromise the longevity in the mattress, however it’s likely to be only marginally. Since it is the Loom & Leaf has a top layer memory-foam density of four grams per cubic foot it should still prove more durable than your typical foam mattress that costs less than $1,000.
Loom & Leaf top owner-review feedback
We found only 16 recently updated, top-quality owner reviews for Loom & Leaf. Loom & Leaf. Like the Saatva Classic, the quality of customer service has stood out from the positive reviews. In 2019 and 2020 many reviewers have described this Loom & Leaf as “too firm” rather than “too smooth.” However it’s difficult to determine its feel. A lot of reviewers did not specify if they’d ordered one of the Relaxed Firm or the Firm.
We also noticed that reviewers who are heavier tend to describe the Loom & Leaf as too soft, or even too loose or even. For instance, we saw complaints on Reddit concerning it being too soft or even saggy. Relaxed Firm version being sagging for people who weigh more than 250 pounds. If that is the case, then look into using the Firm version (though it’s very stiff) as well as alternatively, the Tempur-Adapt (which is also made of dense foam but a more-distinct memory-foam hug). If you weigh more than 200 pounds, consider an alternative like the Zenhaven that is built with more durable latex foam. Saatva Classic Reddit
We recommend it? Yes.
Who it’s for: Its latex foam Zenhaven should suit people who sleep in any position, especially those who like a supple cushion that doesn’t give the “sunk-in” sensation. It’s also suitable for those of all weights, including those who weigh more than 200 pounds.
What it feels like: This mattress can be flipped and comes with handles that allow you to choose between two options The Luxury Plush Side is on the softer end of the medium-firm spectrum and it’s good for side-sleepers. Its Gentle Firm side offers a slightly firmer feel (the firm claims it’s around 20 percent more firmer, and that sounds right to us).
We like this: Zenhaven Zenhaven comprises of two latex layers (one that is a zoned one for pressure points and lower-back support, though this may or could not be useful, depending on your size and where you sleep on your bed). Latex is a kind of foam made from the milky sap the rubber tree plant, and it is intrinsically better than polyurethane or memory foam. Therefore, we think that this mattress is robust for those who weigh more than 200 pounds.
We love that the Zenhaven is constructed specifically from Talalay latex that feels more soft than Dunlop latex commonly found in less expensive, stiffer latex mattresses, like the Sleep On Latex Pure Green. Both the luxurious Plush along with the Gentle Firm sides of the Zenhaven are incredibly soft and springy, but not elasticky. The entire bed is also more breathable than mattresses made of Dunlop latex.
I have slept upon the Zenhaven for a few months. Personally, I prefer a soft feel (like those of Saatva Classic) However, the Luxury Plush part of the Zenhaven has gotten more comfortable to me. After putting it to the test for a few weeks, I came to appreciate its soft slightly springy surface as well as its cushioned cradle.
My son, who is 10, enjoys playing on it, and the Zenhaven’s motion isolation doesn’t prevent me from feeling it. It’s enough to ensure that I don’t notice my husband’s movements in the evening. The edge support is better than that of most foam mattresses, including on the Loom & Leaf.
My husband, who is barely 200 pounds and rests with his back on, finds that the Zenhaven as more substantive and more appealing than the memory foam Loom & Leaf the Relaxed firm as well as the Saatva Classic Luxury Firm.
The Zenhaven is shipped by movers and not in a container, so you’re less likely give off that new-mattress smell in your home. You can choose between the more soft luxury Plush side and the Gentle Firm side as your preferences and requirements shift, or if are unsure of the firmness level you’d like. Since the mattress is very heavy (the queen weighs at 125 weight), Saatva will send moving experts to help you out with one-time “courtesy” flip.
The things we don’t love about HTML0:Although the Zenhaven has a more-supple feel than many other mattresses that are all-latex online, it’s still less luxurious-feeling as comparable innersprings as well as traditional foam mattresses due to the fact that it’s not typically “fluffy.” The nil 2 (of 29) staff members who enjoyed it more than the other models in our test of 2020 the hybrid and foam mattresses said they enjoyed the fact that it was supportive and believed that it could last for a long period of time. (In the latex category, most staffers in our blind test preferred the PranaSleep Lotus Asana 6 in Plush, which has a latex-polyurethane-foam construction and costs over $1,000 more than the Zenhaven.)
Because the Zenhaven is particularly heavy and two-sided and two-sided, it must be placed on a solid, quality platform bed or a frame and boxspring in good shape. Saatva offers the frame with a boxspring (which is available in two sizes) plus a metal frame.
Zenhaven top reviews of the owner
We were able to locate just 18 reviews from owners of high-quality for the Zenhaven-too small a sample size to provide any conclusive, objective, and non-subjective information that go beyond the excellent customer service. We did however find an extremely descriptive post from a long-term owner with no weight (though the owner did state that the height was 6 feet 4 inches in height).
He claimed that, after a year and an half, he loved its cushion and durability, but because he hadn’t been rotating the mattressregularly, the impression on his hip was evident; when he started rotating the mattress once every six months, he said the impression disappeared. We’ll update this section after we’ve gathered more high-quality reviews. Saatva Classic Reddit
Saatva Latex Hybrid
What it’s designed to be used forThe Saatva Latex Hybrid is ideal to those who value the durability of their mattress over lavishness. It’s great for stomach- and back-sleepers as well as those who toss and turn often. It’s designed to last for most people, including those who weigh over 200 pounds.
How it feels:This 13-inch latex and coil hybrid is at the soft end of medium-firm. It’s very buoyant, slightly bouncy, and has some cushioning and hugging. It’s definitely not plush but it’s more comfortable to sleep on the mattress than within it.
We like:The Saatva Latex Hybrid is constructed with high-quality materials and construction techniques. The quilted top, constructed out of cotton, as well as wool (a natural flame-repellant) is hand-tufted onto the layers underneath. Tufting (commonly seen on upholstery or traditional mattress innersprings) is a type of strong stitching which holds the layers together and has more durability than glue and avoids the potential chemical smell that is often associated with adhesives. These peaks and valleys created by tufting can aid in minimizing any visible body impressions, more so than the sock-covered and smooth-topped mattresses that are typically seen on hybrids that are sold online.
While most hybrids put a layer of polyurethane foam over coils, Saatva’s Saatva Latex Hybrid uses 3 inches of Talalay latex foam (which is plenty, in comparison to the more expensive Casper Wave, which uses only half the amount). Latex is naturally more breathable and durable than memory foams or polyurethane. Talalay latex, also used in the Zenhaven model, is a much more breathable, supple and comfortable foam in comparison to the Dunlop variety often found in lower-priced mattresses made of latex.
Wirecutter supervising Editor Wendy Schley tested the Saatva Latex Hybrid for a few months at home. She found it extremely supportive and durable. “It feels almost buoyant,” she said. “There’s some cushioning to it, but it’s not luxurious in the way that a luxurious mattress would be.” Wendy found that the mattress was bouncy and springy sensation that was reminiscent of an innerspring. She also was never stuck. However, the latex foam offered some motion isolation. The edge support is great due to the large (13 3/4 -gauge) 8-inch coils along the perimeter.
Due to its breathable material (the Talalay latex, cotton cover, and wool layer in the top) and coils, this Saatva Latex Hybrid should sleep cooler than all-foam mattresses or hybrids made from polyfoams. Wendy, who tends to sleep hot, found that the Saatva Latex Hybrid to be notably cooler than other mattresses, though we haven’t tested it in the summertime.
We haven’t found enough high-quality Saatva Latex Hybrid reviews to discern any trends, but we’ll update accordingly when we do.
We don’t love: Though the coils are individually wrapped, there’s still a touch of motion transfer, due to it’s just that, coils. It’s minimal compared with Motion transfer found on Saatva Classic, but it’s much more prominent than with all-foam alternatives such as those from the Loom & Leaf or Zenhaven.
A queen-sized Latex Hybrid contains 789 coils (fewer than our top hybrid mattresses, such as the Tempur-Adapt and the Leesa Hybrid, that have more than 1,000). When a mattress has fewer coils, it sometimes means the mattress won’t be as comfortable to your body. However, the supple feel from the soft latex more than makes the up.
As Wendy has experienced her experience, the Saatva Latex Hybrid isn’t an ahhh type of mattress. It feels like it’s lifting you, instead of snuggling you down. And it may not provide enough cushioning to offer sufficient pressure relief for side sleepers, or even to back-sleepers who require extra cushioning for specific joints.
Wendy that sleeps back and side and reported that she occasionally woke up with soreness in her shoulders and lower back after sleeping on the Saatva Latex Hybrid. If you’re looking for something a bit more comfortable, you may want to consider the Saatva Classic or the Loom & Leaf (both come in multiple firmness levels, including ones which feel more soft than the Saatva Latex).
The Latex Hybrid’s tufting is topped with decorative yarn tassels. They look pretty but are reportedly flimsy attached as one of the tassels that were on the mattress Wendy tested unraveled after several weeks. Saatva Classic Reddit
Saatva Solaire Adjustable
The Saatva Solaire has an adjustable-air bed, consisting of foam placed on the top of air chambers that can be set to your preferred firmness level with a remote. We haven’t yet tried the Solaire yet, but we’ll update this guide when we’ve had the chance to. In the meantime, we’ll talk about the information we have.
Saatva has introduced Solaire in 2019 to compete with Sleep Number’s top-of-the-line i8 bed. In addition to having air chambers as well as remotes The Solaire is equipped with a pillow top, a Talalay Latex Layer, and the gel-infused memory foam layer. It’s also $650 cheaper that the Sleep Number I8.
The remote comes with 50 options as opposed to Sleep Number’s 20 settings, but in reality, we’re not sure if people even need this many. At a glance, the comfort components look like they’d provide a more-curve-conforming cradle than Sleep Number’s polyurethane foam layers.
However, we can’t know for sure until we lie down in the bed. The Solaire’s Talalay latex components suggest long-lasting, but because Sleep Number doesn’t provide any details about the foam components, we can’t say that one bed has more durability than another.
Whether you choose one of the twins or a king or something else in between you can get this Solaire at any length you want as the standard model. If you decide to go with either a queen or a king and want to upgrade, you can choose the Upper-Flex queen or King, or split king. All of them feature dual air chambers meaning that the sleepers can select their own firmness levels.
The standard model is compatible with any bed frame (including bases that can be adjusted). However, the Upper-Flex queen, king and the split king options are designed to be specifically compatible with adjustable bases that allow each side to adjust independently.
It is worth noting that the Saatva Company offers its own adjustable frames, including Lineal Adjustable Base Standard and the Lineal Adjustable Base Standard and the Lineal Adjustable Base Upper-Flex. With the Upper-Flex frame, couples can use a remote to position their shoulders and head separately (for example, one person can lay flat and sleep while the other sits up and reads a book).
The Upper-Flex designed to fit the split-king Solaire can also allow both people to elevate their lower bodies independently. We didn’t have enough top-quality user reviews to put on this list however we’ll be updating this guide when we’re able to test the bed ourselves and gather more reviews. Saatva Classic Reddit
In May 2019, Saatva introduced the Saatva HD, a hybrid mattress specifically designed for those who weigh between 300-500 pounds. We haven’t yet tested the mattress yet, but we plan to try it out in the near future.
Like the Saatva Classic and the Loom & Leaf, the Saatva HD has a pillowy, quilted top layer, however the firm layer of foam underneath and coils appear to be able to hold greater weight. We’re particularly curious about the pillow top of the HD, since experts have told us that for heavier people pillows can be especially susceptible to indentation.
The HD’s other components, however, seem promising as far as durability is concerned: There is a latex layer, which is typically stronger than memory foam, as well as a memory-foam layer, which has a density of 5 pounds per cubic foot (more than the 4-pounds-per-cubic-foot minimum that experts typically recommend for people who weigh over 200 pounds). Furthermore the HD’s 12 1/2 -gauge coils are more dense than those found in the company’s other models and the coils in rival models like The Big Fig.
But these aren’t necessarily the only criteria that affect the mattress’s longevity, and durability alone does not make for a desirable mattress. We’ll be looking into these issues further in an forthcoming guide to mattresses that are suitable for those who weigh more than 200 pounds.Saatva “strongly recommends” to place the mattress on a sturdy platform bed with a vertical center support.
If not, they advised us that you must purchase the HD together with its unique “high endurance” timber-slat-based foundation. Also, we found a few positive reviews from users. After we’ve had enough data to identify any patterns and have the ability for a mattress test, we’ll give an update. Saatva Classic Reddit
It’s called the Saatva Youth, the company’s relatively innovative coil-and-foam mattress for children costs more than mattresses for adults. However, it is dual-sided, with an inner coil sandwiched between two layers of foam, so the mattress can expand with the child.
Its first layer is intended for children aged 3 to 7 and is comprised of zoned polyfoam , which has densities that range from 1.4 and 1.8 pounds per cubic foot.
The second side is meant for children older than (the company says that the age range is 8-12), the foam density can be as high as 1.5 pounds per cubic foot and somewhat less spongy due to its pairing with the firmer part in the coil. The 13 3/4 gauge coils range from 330 to the size of a twin, up to 350 when a twin is XL. They also go up to 462 for a full.
The Saatva Youth is 10 inches thick and bunk-bed-friendly-as long as the bed’s guardrail is at least 5 inches higher than the mattress, for safety reasons. Those who prefer natural materials may appreciate the fact the fact that the mattress is covered in a thick, quilted organic cotton cover. It also uses thistle pulp (as instead of chemical sprays or fiberglass) as the flame retardant. We haven’t yet tried this mattress and we haven’t seen any reviews online. But we hope to assess it for a future guide on mattresses for children.
It’s called the Saatva Youth, the company’s relatively innovative coil-and-foam mattress for kids, costs more than some mattresses for grown-ups. But it’s double-sided, featuring a coil layer sandwiched between two foam layers, so the mattress can be able to grow with a child.
Its first layer is intended for kids ages 3 through 7, and it consists of zoned polyfoam with densities ranging from 1.4 and 1.8 tons per square foot.
The second side is intended for older kids (the company states that it’s for that the age range is 8-12) the foam density ranges from 1.5 pounds per cubic foot, and is slightly less softer since it’s coupled with the more firm part of the coil. The 13 3/4 gauge coils range from 330 to a twin to 350 in a twin XL and 462 for the full.
