In the sea of mattresses on the internet, Saatva stands apart in fundamental ways. Saatva delivers its mattresses by truck, instead of in boxes. While, like other online sellers the company has quickly expanded its line, Saatva remains focused on offering a variety of “luxury” designs, all priced in the range of its Youth model, which is more than $1500 (for the queen size). Sure, there’s a whole galaxy of mattresses that are more lavish than Saatva’s, featuring greater coil counts and more refined materials.
We find Saatva’s mattresses to be among the most elegant-looking and well-designed options that are available from an online business.
Over the past 2 years we’ve tested the Innerspring Saatva Classic, the memory-foam Loom and Leaf, as well as the all-latex Zenhaven and have consistently placed as one of our top choices in our reviews of the top foam mattresses and the top innerspring mattresses.
We’ve also experienced sleeping on Saatva’s Saatva latex hybrid as well as researched the design and construction of the other beds in Saatva’s lineup. The majority of online mattresses are either hybrids or foams so the Saatva Classic stands out. It’s one of the few innerspring mattresses you can conveniently buy on the internet.
Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic a good amount of bounce near the top, and a cushioned top provides a feeling of softness. As with the other Saatva Company mattresses they are delivered by movers. Saatva Classic is delivered by moving trucks, not in a box. Saatva also offers the option of a 180-day trial and easy returns.
The all-foam Loom & Leaf is made with denser memory foam than most mattresses that cost less than $1,000, which means it’s less likely to sag in time. For that reason, it’s ideal for those who weigh greater than 200 pounds.
The quilted, thick cover is more cushier, and more sturdy than the sock-like cover that are found on many foam mattresses, and the cover helps the memory foam layer beneath feel less squishy.
Just like you’d expect with an innerspring mattress the Loom and Leaf reduces motion more as compared to the innerspring Saatva Classic.All-foam Zenhaven consists mostly of latex-specifically Talalay latex, which is made from the plant’s milky sap, and is intrinsically durable. Talalay is more flexible than Dunlop latex and is usually found in cheaper latex mattresses we’ve tried.
Zenhaven is a good choice. Zenhaven can also be flipped (the Luxury Plush side feels moderately firm, while the Gentle Firm side feels a bit firmer), which might prove helpful if you’re not sure what you prefer or if your needs change over time.
This isn’t a traditional cushiony mattress, however it offers a supple cushion, excellent edge support, as well as a mild springiness.
Given its innate durability, the Zenhaven is a good choice for those who weigh more than 200 pounds. Saatva Coupon Code
Making sense of Saatva
Saatva’s portfolio of beds-many with a choice of firmness levels and catering to almost every comfort preference-includes:
- Saatva Classic (innerspring)
- Loom & Leaf (all foam)
- Zenhaven (all latex)
- Saatva Latex Hybrid (latex with coils)
- Solaire (a Bed with adjustable air chambers)
- Saatva HD (a latex-coil hybrid specifically designed for those who weigh between 300-500 pounds)
- Saatva Youth (a foam-coil hybrid for children ages 3-12)
We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims made by Saatva or of the other “eco-friendly” brand names.
However, we know that the company uses thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (as in contrast to fiberglass or chemicals) and only organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers.
Similar to other mattress brands online, Saatva touts such extras as zones for “optimal spine support”; we’re less than thrilled with these extras and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer service and its durable coils and foams. Saatva Coupon Code
Saatva Video Review
Who it’s to be used forThe Saatva Classic is likely to suit those who like a soft (but not overly bulky) top layer as well as the feel of a solid, durable. This Luxury Firm model (Saatva’s “Medium” offer), which we tested, should suit people who are back-, sideand stomach sleepers. The softer Plush Soft version caters primarily to those who sleep on their sides, as does the Firm version to back- and stomach-sleepers.
How it feels:We tested the Luxury Firm version of the Saatva Classic – the brand’s most sought-after model. We found it to be cushy to the touch, and has good cushioning and bounce. It starts out with the feel of a firm, square shape, but it becomes softer after the break-in period of about a month.
What we like:The Saatva Classic is one of the very few innerspring mattresses can be purchased online without the ease more often associated with purchasing a boxed foam mattress. It has 416 strong, sturdy coils at the base for support as well as 884 individual, more-pliable coils stacked on top, to provide pressure relief. There’s a slice of memory foam included in the mix, but the actual cushioning comes from a 3-inch polyfoam-and-fiber Euro top (an extra layer of cushion sewn underneath the surface). The resultant feel is broad in appeal: it’s a bit bouncy, resilient, and supportive with a softness that doesn’t feel bulky.
We tested the 14 1/2-inch Saatva Classic in Luxury Firm in a group test of innersprings (it’s also available in 11 1/2 inches), and it captured the second-highest percentage of top-rated votes (nine from 39 testers) in the $1,000-$2,000 range (which comprised the Avocado, the Parachute, and the first-place WinkBed). Five of the nine testers liked it more than the Saatva Classic better than any of the other mattresses tested in the same test, including those that cost twice as much; two of the nine test participants chose the Saatva Classic as their second-favorite overall.
For the home test, I looked at the prospect of sleeping in this bed every night. I’m not a fan overly billowy bed, so I was pleased that the Classic’s Euro top provided what seemed to me like just the ideal amount of cuddle. The bed has some bounce however not enough that my husband’s rolling over woke me up-to me, the buoyed up feel was worth the tradeoff in motion isolation.
It’s priced at around $1,600 when not for sale (though it is often) The Saatva Classic is the least expensive innerspring mattress we’ve tested that feels substantial and luxurious. We also love the fact that you have the option of choosing from three different levels of firmness: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, or Firm-so you can likely find a good fit regardless of which position you sleep in. Unlike the more-billowy WinkBed Another option from the innerspring mattress guide, the Saatva Classic is delivered unboxed by movers (so that the “new mattress smell” is already gone from the factory and in transit) Also, this “white glove” delivery service is free. The company provides a generous 180-day trial period, along with an extended warranty of 15 years.
The things we do not love: If you’re not a fan of the bounce of a mattress, or are insensitive to your partner’s movements in bed, you probably won’t like this mattress. Saatva Classic. While all the coils on top are wrapped individually the bottom ones aren’t, therefore, the bed offers a bit more motion transfer than our other innerspring picks, such as the WinkBed. If you’re not a fan of any bounce at all it’s better to go with Saatva’s Loom & Leaf.
It is worth noting that the Saatva Classic also requires a bit of break-in time. When we first test the mattress in 2018, it felt medium-firm; after a year and half later, we found that it softened bit but in a nice manner (at least to me). It’s not the case with a “Soft” mattress, however; those who prefer it might be interested in this Plush Soft version, which we haven’t tried yet.
Although the company touts the “active Lumbar Zone” technology to provide “additional back support,” my husband (who weighs in the vicinity of 200 pounds) still craved more support from the Luxury Firm. It could be that he discovered it in the Firm version, but we haven’t had the chance to test the technology in the past, and so don’t confirm it. In general, we’re not particularly impressed by zones because people come in different heights and shapes, and they may spread in a way that doesn’t match the zoning patterns.
The foam densities of the Saatva Classic are less than those in the Loom & Leaf that is the company’s foam mattress offering. Although company representatives wouldn’t divulge details, we were informed that memory foam is at least 3 pounds per cubic foot and the polyfoam density of 1 1/2 pounds for each cubic foot.
They’re not as impressive as the densities in the Loom & Leaf, but these are the norm in an innerspring mattress and and especially one in this price category. In contrast to foam mattresses, this mattress’s steel coils provide extra support and quilting can help reduce body impressions.
But , as this Reddit thread suggests, certain sleepers have had better luck using their Saatva mattresses over the course of several years than others; we think that this could be due to the sleeper’s size and shape. Similar to all Euro- or pillow-top mattresses, the more you weigh the higher the chance of getting imprints and sagging over time.
This is why you must rotate your mattress at least once every six months. You should also sleep on top of your mattress.
Saatva Classic top owner-review feedback
We were able to find just 39 reviews from owners that were of high quality (those that didn’t seem untrue or unclear and were published in the past, both in 2019 and 2020). While the sample size is quite small, we believe it’s worth noting that almost 30% of the positive reviews praised Saatva’s service to customers. This is more than what we’ve seen from other online mattress companies.
We also noticed that six reviewers had mentioned sagging as a problem; one of them had a weight of more than 200 pounds and the other had a lower weight or didn’t mention. The majority of them had owned the mattress for more than an entire year prior to the date of their review. This indicates that turning the mattress is essential for heavier individuals who prefer innersprings might consider the option of a mattress made from more durable latex foam, such as that of the Charles P. Rogers Estate SE. Saatva Coupon Code
Saatva Loom & Leaf
Who it’s intended for All-foam Loom & Leaf appeals to those who like a memory foam that wraps around, as opposed to engulfing them in a tense, sluggish hug. The soft Relaxed Firm model may be best for side-sleepers. This version, called Firm is designed for back- or stomach-sleepers. People who weigh more than 200 pounds might be able to find the Firm version to be more supportive than the Relaxed Firm.
What it feels like:The Relaxed Firm is a medium-firm mattress that cradles without tying you in; the Firm (which we’ve tried only in an actual showroom) is much firmer.
What we likeabout it: The 12-inch thick Loom & Leaf comes with a sturdy, quilted cover similar to that you’d find on a high-quality innerspring mattress (by comparison, most memory-foam mattresses are made of sock-like, thin covers). The cover is made of foam padding, which adds an additional dimension to the usually simple squishiness of memory foam mattresses. I have slept on the Relaxed firm at home for more than one week and loved that it was soft and solid but also firm. Our husband who loves firm mattresses and weighs just less than 200 pounds, which is 70 pounds more than me-felt it was too soft.
Whereas most online mattresses have a memory-foam density in the 3-pounds-per-cubic-foot range, the Loom & Leaf’s top layer has a 4-pounds-per-cubic-foot density with a gel-infused layer meant to assist with cooling (though cooling features like gel and perforations tend to have minimal impact). The mattress also has a 5-pounds-per-cubic-foot memory-foam layer underneath that top layer. Based on these specs we believe that this mattress will be less likely to slump or form body indentions as opposed to other foam mattresses even for those who weigh more than 200 pounds (though it may not be suitable for those who weigh over 250 pounds; check the owner review feedback, below). As with any foam mattress, it also has a high-quality motion isolation.
In 2020, we conducted a test of the Loom & Leaf Relaxed Firm against the Serta iComfort (both are all-foam mattresses, which cost more than $1000) The results showed that 20 of the 29 respondents preferred that of the Loom & Leaf. “It was more comfortable” was a popular explanation; some even described it as being less “cushioned.” In the event that we test in comparison to Casper Wave Casper Wave in 2019 the results were less unified (18 for the Wave sixteen for that of the Loom & Leaf). The people who chose the Loom & Leaf preferred its “cushier” or “more flexible” feeling or the quilting’s texture; those who chose the Casper Wave described the Wave as being more supportive and that the Loom & Leaf as making them feel more “stuck.”
We are also pleased it that Loom & Leaf, like all of the Saatva Company’s mattresses is delivered unboxed, by moving trucks. This means that you don’t need to air it out, like you do with the majority of mattresses that are boxed; off-gassing has likely already taken place within the factory.
We don’t love HTML0: We wish Saatva offered a firmness level between Relaxed Firm and Firm. two levels are at a minimum, a few degrees between them. Although the Loom & Leaf has better edge support than other popular models on the internet (such as the Leesa or Casper) Casper), it isn’t as sturdy as the hybrid (like the Leesa Hybrid or Tempur-Adapt).
Despite the Loom and Leaf’s cool gel as well as the pin-core (punctured) design touted on the top layer, I was able to sleep quite warm on this mattress, which was surprising considering that I’m usually cold. But given that it was the middle of winter, I didn’t care any of it. The tiny holes that are designed for cooling might compromise the durability in the mattress, however it’s likely to be only marginally. Because this Loom & Leaf has a top-layer memory-foam density of 4 tons per cubic foot it will still prove more durable than your standard foam mattress that costs less than $1,000.
Loom & Leaf top owner-review feedback
We have only found 16 high-quality, recent user reviews for this model of the Loom & Leaf. Similar to the Saatva Classic, the quality of customer service has stood out from the positive reviews. In 2019 , and in 2020 reviews, more people described the Loom & Leaf as “too firm” as opposed to “too smooth.” But it’s difficult to draw conclusions about its feel. A lot of reviewers did not specify if they’d ordered the Relaxed Firm or the Firm.
Also, we noticed that reviewers who are heavier tend to refer to the Loom & Leaf as too soft or even saggy. For instance, we found complaints on Reddit concerning the Relaxed Firm version sagging for people who weigh more than 250 pounds. If that is your case, try the Firm version (though, again, it’s very stiff) or it could be the Tempur-Adapt (which also features dense foam but a more-distinct memory foam hug). If you weigh over 200 pounds, it’s time to look into Zenhaven. Zenhaven that is built with more durable latex foam. Saatva Coupon Code
Do we recommend it? Yes.
Who is it for: Its latex foam Zenhaven is a good choice for people that sleep at any angle, but especially those who prefer a soft cushion, but without that “sunk-in” feeling. It’s also great for all types of people, including those who weigh over 200 pounds.
What it feels like: The foam mattress is flippable, and it has handles that let you choose between two options that are: The Luxury Plush aspect is at the softer end of the medium-firm range, and is suitable for sleepers who are side-sleepers. This side’s Gentle Firm side offers a slightly firmer feel (the company says it’s about 20% firmer, and that sounds right to us).
We like this: The Zenhaven comprises of two layers of latex (one of which is zoned for pressure points and lower back support, though this may or may not be helpful according to your body size and where you sleep on the bed). Latex is a kind of foam made from the milky sap of the rubber tree, and it is much better than polyurethane foam or memory foam, so we believe that this mattress will prove sturdy for people who weigh more than 200 pounds.
We are impressed this mattress because the Zenhaven is constructed specifically from Talalay latex that feels more soft than Dunlop latex commonly found in stiffer, less expensive latex mattresses, such as the Sleep on Latex Pure Green. The luxury Plush along with the Gentle Firm sides of the Zenhaven are incredibly soft and springy, but not elastic. The bed as a whole is also more breathable than beds that are mostly made from Dunlop latex.
I have slept upon the Zenhaven for several months. Personally, I prefer a soft feeling (like those of Saatva Classic), but the Luxury Plush side of the Zenhaven has gotten more comfortable to me. After breaking it in for a few weeks, I came to appreciate its supple slightly springy surface as well as its the cushioned cradle.
My son of 10 is also fond of climbing on it and the Zenhaven’s motion aversion does not stop me from being a bit uncomfortable about that. But it’s good enough that I don’t feel the need to notice my husband’s movements at night. Its edge support can be slightly better than that of most foam mattresses, such as the Loom & Leaf.
My husband, who weighs barely 200 pounds and usually is a back sleeper, has found the Zenhaven as more substantive and appealing than the memory-foam Loom & Leaf The Relaxed firm as well as the Saatva Classic Luxury Firm.
The Zenhaven is shipped by movers and not in a box, which means it’s less likely to emit that new-mattress smell in your home. You can choose between the soft Luxury Plush side and gentle firm side Gentle Firm side as your preferences and preferences shift, or if are unsure of the firmness level you’d like. Due to the weight of the mattress (the queen weighs 125 pounds), Saatva will send moving experts to help you out with a one-time “courtesy” switch.
We don’t like:Although the Zenhaven has a more-supple feel than many other mattresses that are all-latex online but it’s less luxurious than similarly priced innersprings as well as traditional foam mattresses due to the fact that it’s not traditionally “fluffy.” The nil two (of 29) employees who liked it better than other models in our 2020 study of foam and hybrid mattresses said they liked that it was supportive, and that they believed it would last a long time. (In the latex category, most staffers in our blind test preferred the PranaSleep Lotus Asana 6 in Plush, which has a latex-polyurethane-foam construction and costs over $1,000 more than the Zenhaven.)
Because the Zenhaven is particularly heavy and two-sided and two-sided, it must be placed on a sturdy, good-quality platform bed, or a boxspring and frame in good condition. Saatva sells the Boxspring Foundation (which is available in two heights) as well as a frame made of steel.
Zenhaven top owner-review feedback
We could find only 18 quality reviews of owners for Zenhaven. It’s a tiny sample size to offer any firm, non-subjective conclusions, beyond excellent customer service. However, we did discover an extremely descriptive blog post by a longer-term owner of unknown weight (though the owner did state that his height was 6’4 inches in height).
He stated that after a year a half, he still was impressed by its cushion and strength, but because he hadn’t been rotating the mattress, there was a hip impression after which, when he started turning the mattress once every 6 months, he reported that the imprint disappeared. We’ll update this section once we’ve collected more high-quality reviews. Saatva Coupon Code
Saatva Latex Hybrid
What it’s designed intended forThe Saatva Latex Hybrid is ideal to those who prefer sturdiness over sumptuousness. It’s perfect for back and stomach sleepers as well as those who toss and turn frequently. It should hold up well for the majority of people, even those who weigh more than 200 pounds.
What it feels like:This 13-inch hybrid of latex and coil is in the middle of medium-firm. It’s distinctly buoyant and slightly bouncy, and has some cushioning and cradling. It’s definitely not plush however, and you’ll sleep better the mattress the mattress rather than within it.
We like:The Saatva Latex Hybrid is constructed using top-quality materials and techniques for construction. The quilted top, made out of cotton, as well as wool (a natural flame retardant) is hand-tufted to the layers beneath it. Tufting (commonly used on upholstery or traditional-style innerspring mattresses) is a kind of stitching with a heavy-duty structure that holds the layers together, which some argue is more durable than glue and also avoids the chemical smell of adhesives. The peaks and valleys made by the tufting may also aid in minimizing any visible body impressions, more so than the smooth-topped, sock-covered mattresses you typically see on hybrids that are sold online.
Although most hybrids use a layer of polyurethane foam on top of coils, Saatva’s Saatva Latex Hybrid uses 3 inches of Talalay latex foam (which is ample, compared with the pricey Casper Wave, which uses half as much). Latex is more breathable and durable than polyurethane or memory foams. Talalay latex, also used in Zenhaven model, is a much more breathable and soft-feeling foam as opposed to the Dunlop type that is commonly found in lower-priced latex mattresses.
Wirecutter’s supervising editor Wendy Schley tested the Saatva Latex Hybrid for several months at home. She found it to be very supportive and sturdy. “It seems almost buoyant,” she said. “There’s some cushioning however it’s not extravagant in a soft way.” Wendy found that the mattress was bouncy, springy feel reminiscent of an innerspring. She also was never stuck. However, the latex foam offered some motion isolation. The edge support is great thanks to the thick (13 3/4 -gauge) 8-inch coils that run along the edges.
Due to its breathable material (the Talalay latex, cotton cover and wool layer on the top) and the coils, this Saatva Latex Hybrid should sleep cooler than all foam mattresses or hybrids that are made of polyfoams. Wendy is a person who likes to be hot at night, found that the Saatva Latex Hybrid to be notably cooler than other mattresses, even though we haven’t tried it in the summertime.
We haven’t found enough high-quality Saatva Latex Hybrid reviews to discern any trends, but we’ll update as we find.
We don’t love: Though the coils are wrapped in a single piece, there’s still a touch of motion transfer due to, well, coils. It’s not as noticeable as motion transfer on the Saatva Classic, however, it’s more noticeable than with all-foam alternatives like those from the Loom & Leaf or Zenhaven.
A queen-size Latex Hybrid contains 789 coils (fewer than our top hybrid mattresses, such as the the Tempur-Adapt as well as the Leesa Hybrid, with around 1,000). When a mattress is less dense than coils, it sometimes means the mattress won’t conform as well with your physique. But the firmness from the soft latex can make more up for it.
As Wendy has experienced, as Wendy experienced, the Saatva Latex Hybrid isn’t an ahhh type of mattress. It feels like it’s lifting you up rather than nestling you in. It may not offer enough cushioning to offer adequate pressure relief to side-sleepers as well as back-sleepers who require additional cushioning on specific joints.
Wendy, sleeping on both her side and back and has reported that she’s woke up with soreness in her lower back and shoulders after sleeping on the Saatva Latex Hybrid. If you’re looking to get something more plush, you may want to consider the Saatva Classic or the Loom & Leaf (both are available in a variety of firmness levels, including ones that are softer than Saatva Latex).
The Latex Hybrid’s tufting is finished with beautiful yarn tassels. They look lovely, but are apparently flimsily attached to the mattress, and some of them that were on the mattress Wendy tried to unraveled after several weeks. Saatva Coupon Code
Saatva Solaire Adjustable
Saatva’s Solaire can be described as an adjustable-air bed, consisting of foam placed on top of air chambers which can be programmed to the firmness you want using a remote. We haven’t yet tried the Solaire yet, but we’ll update this guide once we’ve had the chance to. In the meantime, we’ll discuss the information we have.
Saatva has introduced Solaire in 2019 to be able to compete with Sleep Number’s premium i8 mattress. Along with air chambers and a remote and a remote, the Solaire is equipped with an adjustable pillow top, Talalay Latex Layer, as well as the gel-infused memory foam layer. It’s also $650 cheaper over the Sleep Number’s i8.
The remote has 50 settings in comparison to Sleep Number’s 20 settings, but realistically we’re not sure whether users really need this many. At a glance, the comfort components look like they’d provide a more-curve-conforming cradle than Sleep Number’s polyurethane foam layers.
However, we can’t know for sure until we lie down in the bed. Solaire’s Talalay latex material suggests longevity However, because Sleep Number doesn’t divulge details about the foam components, we can’t say that one bed has more durability than another.
If you decide to go with a twin or a king or something in between You can purchase this Solaire with any dimension you want as the standard model. Or, if you choose the queen or king or split king, you can upgrade to the Upper-Flex queen, king, or split king. All of them have dual air chambers, so sleep partners can pick their own firmness levels.
The standard model is compatible with any bed frame (including bases that can be adjusted). But the Upper-Flex queen and King and split-king models are made to be specifically compatible with adjustable bases that permit both sides to be adjusted independently.
Saatva Company offers adjustable frames. Saatva Company offers its own adjustable frames, which include those with the Lineal Adjustable Base Standard and the Lineal Adjustable Base Upper-Flex. With the frame’s upper-flex, couples can utilize a remote to place their shoulders and head separately (for example, one of them can lay flat and sleep while the other one sits and reads or reads a book).
The upper-flex frame designed to fit the split-king Solaire can also allow both people to raise their lower bodies independently. We couldn’t find enough high-quality user reviews to put on this list We’ll revise this guide once we’re able to test the bed for ourselves and gather more reviews. Saatva Coupon Code
In May, Saatva introduced the Saatva HD which is a hybrid mattress designed for people who weigh between 300 and 500 pounds. We haven’t tested this mattress yet, but we’re planning to test it in the near future.
Similar to Saatva Classic and the Loom & Leaf Saatva HD Saatva HD has a pillowy quilted top layer however the firm layer of foam underneath and coils appear to be able to hold heavier weights. We’re particularly interested in the pillow top of the HD, because experts told us that, for people who weigh more pillows can be more susceptible to indentations.
The HD’s other components, however, seem promising as far as durability is concerned: There is a latex layer, which is typically stronger than memory foam, as well as a memory-foam layer, which has a density of 5 pounds per cubic foot (more than the 4-pounds-per-cubic-foot minimum that experts typically recommend for people who weigh over 200 pounds). Additionally is that the HD’s 12 1/2 gauge coils are more dense than those found in the company’s other models and those of its rivals, such as the Big Fig.
However, these aren’t the only criteria that affect a mattress’s durability, and durability alone doesn’t make for an appealing mattress. We plan on investigating these questions further in an forthcoming guide to mattresses for those who weigh more than 200 pounds.Saatva “strongly recommends” that you put this mattress on a solid platform bed that has vertical center support.
Otherwise, representatives told us to buy the HD along with its special “high durabil” wood-slat foundation.Again, we spotted very few positive reviews from users. After we’ve had enough data to identify any trends and to test the mattress, we’ll give an update. Saatva Coupon Code
It’s called the Saatva Youth The company’s innovative coil-and-foam mattress for children, costs more than some mattresses for grown-ups. It is however dual-sided, with an inner coil sandwiched between two layers of foam and a mattress that can expand with the child.
One side of the mattress is intended for children aged 3 to 7, and it consists of zoned polyfoam with densities ranging from 1.4 to 1.8 kg per cubic foot.
The second side is intended for older kids (the company says between ages 8 and 12) the foam density is 1.5 pounds per cubic foot and somewhat more softer due to it being paired with the more firm side that’s part of the coil. The 13 3/4 -gauge coils range from 330 to a twin to 350 when a twin is XL and 462 for the full.
The Saatva Youth is 10 inches thick and bunk-bed-friendly-as long as the bed’s guardrail is at least 5 inches higher than the mattress, for safety reasons. People who prefer natural materials may appreciate the fact the fact that the mattress is covered in a thick, quilted organic-cotton covers and utilizes thistle pulp (as opposed to chemical sprays or fiberglass) to act as a flame-resistant. We haven’t tried the mattress, nor have we spotted any reviews online. But we hope to assess it for a future guide to mattresses for kids.
It’s called the Saatva Youth The company’s innovative coil-and-foam mattress for kids is priced higher than mattresses designed for adults. It is however dual-sided, with a coil layer sandwiched between two foam layers, so the mattress can grow along with a kid.
The first side is designed for kids ages 3 through 7 and is comprised of polyfoam zones with densities ranging from 1.4 to 1.8 tons per square foot.
On the second side, designed for kids older than that (the company claims that the age range is 8-12) the density of foam is 1.5 tons per cubic feet, and is slightly less softer since it’s coupled with the more solid section of coil. The 13 3/4 -gauge coils vary from 330 in a twin to 350 in a twin XL. They also go up to 462 for the full.
