In the sea of online mattresses, Saatva stands apart in fundamental ways. Saatva ships its mattresses via truckinstead of boxes. Even though, as with other online sellers the company has quickly developed its range, Saatva remains focused on a range of “luxury” designs, all costing, with the exception of it’s Youth model, more than $1,500 (for the queen size). Saatva Vs Nectar Reddit
Sure, there’s a collection of mattresses that are more luxurious than Saatva’s. They have higher coil counts and finer materials.
But we find Saatva’s mattresses one of the most stylish and thoughtfully designed options offered by an online retailer.
In the last three years, our team has tested our innerspring Saatva Classic, the memory-foam Loom and Leaf, as well as the all-latex Zenhaven, and they’ve consistently placed among our top picks in our reviews of the top foam mattresses and the best innerspring mattresses.
We’ve also used Saatva’s Saatva Mid-Latex Hybrid as well as researched the components and construction of the other beds from Saatva’s line-up.The majority of online mattresses are hybrids or foams, which is why it’s no surprise that the Saatva Classic stands out. It’s one of the few innerspring mattresses that you can buy online.
Pocketed coils give the Saatva Classic a good amount of bounce near the top. The extra soft top makes it more comfortable. As with all of the Saatva Company’s mattresses that are available, the Saatva Classic is delivered by the movers rather than the form of a box. Saatva also offers a generous 180-day trial period and simple returns.
All-foam Loom & Leaf is made of more dense memory foam than other mattresses that cost less than $1,000, which means it’s less likely to sag over time. It’s more suitable for those who weigh over 200 pounds.
The quilted, thick cover is more cushier and substantial than the sock-like covers that are found on many foam mattresses, and the cover helps the memory-foam layer underneath feel less squishy.
Just like you’d expect with a memory-foam bed The Loom and Leaf is able to limit movement more as compared to those with innersprings like the Saatva Classic. The all-foam Zenhaven is made up mainly of latex-specifically Talalay latex. It is made of the rubber tree’s milky sap, and is intrinsically robust. Talalay is less brittle than Dunlop latex that is commonly found in cheaper latex mattresses that we’ve tried.
The Zenhaven can also be flipped (the Luxury Plush side feels moderately firm, while Gentle Firm feels a bit firmer). Gentle Firm side feels a little more firm) It could prove useful if you’re not certain which side you prefer or your needs change with time.
This is not a conventionally cushiony mattress, however it provides a comfortable cushion, good edge support, and slight springiness.
Because of its robustness it is recommended that the Zenhaven is a good choice for people who weigh greater than 200 pounds. Saatva Vs Nectar Reddit
Making sense of Saatva
Saatva’s portfolio of beds-many with a choice of firmness levels and catering to almost every comfort preference-includes:
- Saatva Classic (innerspring)
- Loom & Leaf (all foam)
- Zenhaven (all latex)
- Saatva Latex Hybrid (latex with coils)
- Solaire (a mattress with adjustable air chambers)
- Saatva HD (a latex-coil hybrid specifically designed for those who weigh 300 to 500 pounds)
- Saatva Youth (a foam-coil hybrid designed for kids aged 3 to 12)
We haven’t yet taken a deep dive into Saatva’s “natural” claims made by Saatva or of other “eco-friendly” companies.
We do know that the company makes use of organic wool or thistle pulp to act as a flame-retardant (as as opposed to chemicals or fiberglass) and only organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its mattress covers.
Like other online mattress manufacturers, Saatva touts such extras as zones for “optimal spinal support”; we’re less than thrilled with these extras and more appreciative of Saatva’s quick customer service as well as its long-lasting coils and foams. Saatva Vs Nectar Reddit
Saatva Video Review
Who it’s to be used forThe Saatva Classic will likely appeal to those who like a soft (but not overwhelmingly bulky) top layer, and an extremely durable, supple feel. The Luxury Firm model (Saatva’s “Medium” offering) that we tried, should suit side-, backstomach and side-sleepers. The softer Plush Soft version is targeted to those who sleep on their sides, and the Firm version, for stomach- and back-sleepers.
How it feels:We tested the Luxury Firm version of the Saatva Classic – the line’s most popular option-and found it to be soft on top, with good support and bounce. It starts out with a squarely medium-firm feel, but it becomes softer after a break-in period that lasts a couple of months.
What we like:The Saatva Classic is among the very few innerspring mattresses can be purchased online without the convenience typically associated with buying the traditional boxed foam mattress. It is made up of 416 sturdy coils at the base for support and 884 individually wrapped, more flexible coils stacked on top, to provide pressure relief. There’s a small amount of memory foam included in the mix, though the cushioning is actually an inch of polyfoam-and-fiber Euro top (an extra layer of cushion sewn underneath the top). The result is a soft and comfortable appeal, being supple, supportive, and with a softness that doesn’t feel overwhelmingly billowy.
We tried the 14 1/2 -inch Saatva Classic in Luxury Firm during a 2021 test group for innersprings (it’s also available in 11 1/2 inches), and it captured the second-highest number of top-pick polls (nine out of 39 testers) in the $1,000-$2,000 range (which comprised the Avocado, the Parachute and the top-ranked WinkBed). Five of the nine test subjects loved the Saatva Classic better than any of the other mattresses in the test which included mattresses that cost twice as expensive as the Saatva Classic. Two of the nine testers chose the Saatva Classic as their second-favorite overall.
For the home test, I looked at it as if I could sleep in this bed each night. I don’t like an overly heavy bed, and I liked that the Classic’s Euro top felt to me to be just the ideal amount of cuddling. The bed does have some bounce but not so much that my husband’s roll woke me up-to me, the buoyed up feel was worth the sacrifice in motion-isolation.
At around $1,600 when it’s not on sale (though it often is) It’s a good value at around $1,600. Saatva Classic is the least expensive innerspring mattress we’ve tested that feels substantial and a bit luxe. We also like the fact that you have the option of choosing between three levels of firmness-Plush Soft, Luxury Firm or Firm. This means you’ll get a perfect fit regardless of what mattress you’re sleeping in. Unlike the more-billowy WinkBed, another pick in the innerspring mattress guide Saatva Classic is Saatva Classic is delivered unboxed by the movers (so that the “new mattresses smell” has already disappeared in the factory and while in transit), and this “white gloves” delivery is absolutely free. The company provides a generous 180-day trial period along with a 15-year warranty.
The things we do not like: If you’re not fond of an extremely bouncy mattress or you’re insensitive to your partner’s movements in bed You probably won’t enjoy the Saatva Classic. Although the top coils are individually wrapped the bottom ones aren’t, so the bed has more motion transfer than the other innerspring options including the WinkBed. If you don’t like any bounce You’re better off using Saatva’s Loom & Leaf.
Saatva Classic is a great mattress for couples. Saatva Classic also requires a period of time to break in. When we first tested the mattress in the year 2018 it was medium-firm. a year and a two-thirds of a year later, we noticed that it’s softened a bit, but in a pleasant way (at least for me). This is not an “Soft” mattress, however; those who prefer it might want to try it out. Plush Soft version, which we haven’t yet tried.
While the company claims to have an “active Lumbar Zone” technology for “additional back support,” our husband (who weighs in the vicinity of 200 pounds) still craved more support from the Luxury Firm. He may have discovered this in the firm version but we haven’t tested the technology yet, so we aren’t able to confirm it. We are not overly impressed with zones, as people are of different heights and shapes, and they could spread out in ways that don’t conform to the zoning patterns.
The foam density in Saatva Classic are lower than those in Saatva Classic are less than those in the Loom & Leaf that is the company’s foam mattress offering. While representatives from the company wouldn’t reveal details, we were informed that the memory foam is at minimum 3 pounds in cubic feet, and the polyfoam density equals 1 1/2 pounds of cubic feet.
These aren’t as high as those of the Loom & Leaf, but the specifications are standard in an innerspring mattress and and especially one that’s priced in this range. Unlike with foam mattresses, this mattress’s steel coils provide additional support, and the quilting can help reduce body impressions.
However, as this Reddit thread suggests, certain sleepers have had better luck using the Saatva mattresses over the course of several years than others; we think that this could be due to the sleeper’s size and shape. As with all thick Euro- or pillow-top mattresses, the more you weigh, the more you risk experiencing sagging and impressions over time.
This is why you must rotate your mattress diligently at least every six months and sleep all on top of your mattress.
Saatva Classic top owner-review feedback
We found only 39 owner reviews that are of high-quality (those that weren’t fake or vague, and that were posted recently, in the years 2019 and 2020). Although the sample size was rather small, it’s notable that nearly 30% of the favorable reviews praised Saatva’s customer support. This is more than what we’ve seen with other mattress brands online.
We also noticed that six reviewers had mentioned sagging as a problem; one of these reviewers weighed more than 200 pounds, and the rest either were lighter or didn’t mention. Each of them had owned the mattress for more than an entire year prior to the date of their review. This suggests that rotating the mattress is essential and heavier individuals who enjoy innersprings may want to consider an innerspring mattress that is more durable latex foam like this one from the Charles P. Rogers Estate SE. Saatva Vs Nectar Reddit
Saatva Loom & Leaf
Who it’s intended for All-foam Loom & Leaf appeals to those who like a memory foam that cradles rather than engulfing them in a slow, sinky hug. The more relaxed version may be best for side-sleepers. It is designed for back- or stomach-sleepers. If you weigh over 200 pounds may also find the Firm to be more comfortable than the Relaxed Firm.
How it feels:The Relaxed Firm is a medium-firm mattress that cradles without pulling you in. The Firm (which we’ve only tried in the showroom) is much more firm.
What we likeabout it: The 12-inch thick Loom & Leaf comes with an extremely durable, quilted cover similar to that you’d find on a high-quality innerspring mattress (by comparison, most memory-foam mattresses are made of sock-like, thin covers). The cover is made of foam padding that adds an additional dimension to the usually single-note squishiness that is common to memory-foam mattresses. I lay on the Relaxed Firm at home for over an entire week and loved that it was soft and substantial in the same way. Our husband who prefers mattresses that are firm and weighs just 70 pounds heavier than me-thought it was too soft.
Whereas most online mattresses have a memory-foam density in the 3-pounds-per-cubic-foot range, the Loom & Leaf’s top layer has a 4-pounds-per-cubic-foot density with a gel-infused layer meant to assist with cooling (though cooling features like gel and perforations tend to have minimal impact). The mattress also has a 5-pounds-per-cubic-foot memory-foam layer underneath that top layer. Based on these specs, we think this mattress is less likely to slump or form body indentions as opposed to other foam mattresses even for those who weigh more than 200 pounds (though perhaps not when you weigh over 250 pounds; see owner-review feedback below). As with all foam mattresses, this one has a high-quality motion isolation.
In 2020, we tested our Loom & Leaf Relaxed Firm against the Serta iComfort (both are all-foam mattresses costing more than $1000) and found that twenty-one out of 29 users prefer to the Loom & Leaf. “It felt softer” was the most frequent motive; however, some claimed it was better “cushioned.” We tested against Casper Wave Casper Wave in 2019, the results were less unified (18 for the Wave and sixteen for it; 16 for the Loom & Leaf). Those who opted for more of the Loom & Leaf preferred its “cushier” or “more flexible” feel or appreciated the texture of its quilting; those who chose the Casper Wave described the Wave as being more supportive and the Loom & Leaf as making the feel of being “stuck.”
We also appreciate it that Loom & Leaf, like the rest of Saatva Company’s mattresses, comes delivered without boxes, by movers. This means that you don’t need to let it air out, as you would the majority of mattresses that are boxed; off-gassing has likely already been done in the manufacturing facility.
What we don’t like: We wish Saatva could provide a level of firmness between Firm and Relaxed Firm. The two levels are at least a few gradations between them. Although Loom & Leaf Loom & Leaf has better edge support than some of the more well-known online models (such as the Leesa or Casper) Casper), it isn’t as sturdy as a combination (like that of the Leesa Hybrid or Tempur-Adapt).
Despite the Loom & Leaf’s cooling gel and pin core (punctured) design, which is advertised on the top layer, I slept a bit warm on this mattress, which was surprising because I’m always cold. But given that it was the middle of winter, I didn’t feel any of it. The tiny holes designed for cooling could affect the durability of the foam, but likely only a little. Since the Loom & Leaf has a top layer of memory foam that weighs 4 tons per cubic foot it will remain more durable than your standard $1,000-or-less online foam mattress.
Loom & Leaf top owner-review feedback
We found only 16 recently updated, top-quality owner reviews for the Loom & Leaf. Like similar to the Saatva Classic, the quality of customer service has stood out from the positive reviews. In the years 2019 and 2020 reviews, more people said that this Loom & Leaf as “too firm” than “too soft.” But, it’s hard to make a conclusion about its feel. Many reviewers didn’t specify whether they’d ordered one of the Relaxed Firm or the Firm.
We also observed that reviewers who are heavier tend to refer to their experience with the Loom & Leaf as too soft or even too loose or even. For instance, we saw reviews on Reddit concerning the Relaxed Firm version being sagging for those who weigh around 250 pounds. If that is you, you might try to go with the Firm version (though, again, it’s extremely firm) and alternatively, the The Tempur-Adapt (which also has dense foam, but with a distinct memory foam hug). If you weigh more than 200 pounds, consider an alternative like the Zenhaven Zenhaven, which is made of more durable latex foam. Saatva Vs Nectar Reddit
We recommend it? Yes.
Who is it intended for Its latex foam Zenhaven is a good choice for people sleeping in all positions, especially those who prefer a soft cushion without that “sunk-in” sensation. It’s also good for people of all weights, including those who weigh over 200 pounds.
What it feels like: The foam mattress can be flipped, and it has handles to help you easily choose between two options that are: The Luxury Plush Side is at the soft side of the medium-firm spectrum, and is ideal for those who sleep on their sides. Its Gentle Firm side offers a slightly firmer sensation (the company claims that it’s 20 percent more firmer, and that seems right to us).
What we like: The Zenhaven consists of two latex layers (one of which is a zoned one for pressure points and lower back support however this could or could not be useful in the light of your weight and position on the bed). Latex is a type of foam that comes by the milky sap of the rubber tree and it is intrinsically more durable than polyurethane or memory foam, so we think this mattress is durable for those who weigh over 200 pounds.
We are impressed that the Zenhaven is specifically made out of Talalay latex which is more soft than Dunlop latex commonly found in less expensive, stiffer latex mattresses, like the Sleep On Latex Pure Green. Both the luxurious Plush as well as the Gentle Firm sides of the Zenhaven feel springy without being flexible. The entire bed is also more breathable than beds made mostly with Dunlop latex.
I lay on the Zenhaven for a few months. Personally, I prefer a soft feeling (like that of the Saatva Classic), but the Luxury Plush aspect of the Zenhaven was becoming more appealing to me. After breaking it in for a couple of weeks, I began to appreciate its supple, slightly springy surface and the cushioned cradle.
My 10-year-old son also likes playing on it, and the Zenhaven’s motion isolation isn’t a barrier to me experiencing that. It’s enough to ensure that I don’t feel the need to notice my husband’s movements at night. Edge support on the Zenhaven is higher than the majority of foam mattresses, including on the Loom & Leaf.
Our husband who weighs just under 200 pounds, and who usually sleeps on his back, has found that the Zenhaven to be more solid and more appealing than the memory foam Loom & Leaf The Relaxed Firm and Saatva Classic Luxury Firm. Saatva Classic Luxury Firm.
The Zenhaven is delivered by movers, not shipped in a box, which means you’re less likely emit the fresh-mattress scent in your home. It’s possible to switch between the softer luxury Plush side and the Gentle Firm side as your preferences and needs change, or if you don’t know which level you’ll like. Because the mattress is heavy (the queen weighs 130 kilograms), Saatva will send Movers to assist you by completing a single “courtesy” switch.
We don’t like:Although the Zenhaven has an suppler feel than other online all-latex mattresses however, it’s not as luxurious than comparable innersprings, and traditional foam mattress since it’s not conventionally “fluffy.” The mere 2 (of 29) employees who were more satisfied than other models in our 2020 study of the hybrid and foam mattresses said they were pleased that it was supportive, and that they believed it would last for a long period of time. (In the latex category, most staffers in our blind test preferred the PranaSleep Lotus Asana 6 in Plush, which has a latex-polyurethane-foam construction and costs over $1,000 more than the Zenhaven.)
Because the Zenhaven is particularly heavy and has two sides, it needs to rest on a sturdy, good-quality platform bed, or a boxspring and frame in good shape. Saatva offers the Boxspring Foundation (which comes in two sizes) plus a metal frame.
Zenhaven top owner-review feedback
We could find just 18 reviews from owners of high-quality for the Zenhaven. This is a small sample size to provide any definitive, non-subjective conclusion that go beyond the satisfactory customer service. However, we did find one particularly insightful post written by a more long-term owner with no weight (though he did say his height was 6’4 inches high).
He claimed that after a year one-half, he appreciated its cushion and resilience, but because he hadn’t been rotating the mattress, he noticed a hip impression and when he began rotating the mattress each six months, he claimed the imprint disappeared. We’ll update this section after we’ve gathered more high-quality reviews. Saatva Vs Nectar Reddit
Saatva Latex Hybrid
Who is it intended forThe Saatva Latex Hybrid is ideal to those who value sturdiness over sumptuousness. It’s perfect for stomach- and back-sleepers, and for those who toss and turn often. It should hold up well for most people, including those who weigh over 200 pounds.
How it feels:This 13-inch latex and coil hybrid is in the middle of medium-firm. It’s distinctly buoyant and a touch bouncy, with some cushioning and the feeling of being cradled. It’s certainly not luxurious but you sleep more in the mattress rather than within it.
What we love:The Saatva Latex Hybrid is built using high-quality materials and construction methods. The quilted surface, made out of cotton, as well as wool (a natural flame retardant) is hand-tufted to the layers below it. Tufting (commonly seen on upholstery or traditional in-sofa mattresses) is a type of heavy-duty stitching that holds the layers together Some argue that it has more durability than glue and avoids the potential chemical smell that adhesives can emit. Its peaks as well as valleys made by tufting could help limit any obvious body impressions, more so than the sock-covered, smooth-topped mattresses that you usually see on hybrids that are sold online.
Though most hybrids place an layer of polyurethane foam on top of coils the Saatva Latex Hybrid uses 3 inches of Talalay latex foam (which is plenty, when compared with the pricey Casper Wave, which uses half as much). Latex is inherently more durable and breathable than memory foams or polyurethane. Talalay latex, which is also used in Zenhaven model, is a much more breathable and supple-feeling foam as opposed to the Dunlop varieties that are typically found in lower-priced latex mattresses.
Wirecutter supervising Editor Wendy Schley tested the Saatva Latex Hybrid for several months in her home. She found it extremely supportive and durable. “It is almost buoyant,” she said. “There’s some cushioning, but it’s not luxurious in a plush way.” Wendy found that the mattress has a buoyant, springy feel reminiscent of an innerspring. She also was never stuck. However, the latex foam offered some motion-simplification. The edge support is superb due to the large (13 3/4-gauge) 8-inch coils around the edge.
Thanks to its breathable materials (the Talalay latex, cotton cover, and wool layer in the top) and the coils that make up this Saatva Latex Hybrid should sleep cooler than all-foam mattresses and hybrids that are made of polyfoams. Wendy is a person who likes to sleep hot, found it to be cooler than the Saatva Latex Hybrid to be considerably cooler than the other mattresses, although we haven’t tested it during the summer months.
We haven’t spotted enough good-quality Saatva Latex Hybrid reviews to glean any trends, but we’ll keep you updated when we do.
We don’t love: Though the coils are wrapped individually, there’s still a touch of motion transfer because, well, coils. It’s minimal compared with motion transfer on the Saatva Classic, however, it’s more noticeable than on all-foam options such as those from the Loom & Leaf or Zenhaven.
A queen-size Latex Hybrid contains 789 coils (fewer than our top hybrid mattresses, the the Tempur-Adapt as well as the Leesa Hybrid, with around 1,000). When a mattress is less dense than coils, this can mean it won’t be able to be as comfortable with your physique. However, the supple feel of the latex layer can make up for that.
As Wendy discovered, as Wendy experienced, the Saatva Latex Hybrid isn’t an ahhh kind of mattress. It’s like it’s lifting you up, instead of tucking you in. The mattress may not provide enough cushioning to give sufficient pressure relief for side sleepers or back sleepers who require additional cushioning on particular joints.
Wendy that sleeps side and back, reported that she sometimes awakened with soreness in her shoulders and lower back following her sleep on the Saatva Latex Hybrid. If you’re looking for something more plush, you may be interested in the Saatva Classic or the Loom & Leaf (both are available in a variety of firmness levels, including ones which feel more soft than the Saatva Latex).
The tufting of the Latex Hybrid’s is highlighted by beautiful yarn tassels. They look lovely, but are apparently flimsily attached as One of the yarn tassels that were on the mattress Wendy tried to unraveled after a few weeks. Saatva Vs Nectar Reddit
Saatva Solaire Adjustable
Saatva’s Solaire is an adjustable air bed made of foam on the top of air chambers which can be programmed to the level you prefer using the remote. We haven’t tried the Solaire yet however we’ll update this guide when we’ve had the chance to. While we wait, let us be discussing what we do know.
Saatva has introduced Solaire in the year 2019 to rival Sleep Number’s high-end i8 mattress. Apart from air chambers and a remote and a remote, the Solaire is equipped with the option of a pillow top, Talalay the layer of latex, as well as an infused memory foam layer. It’s also priced at $650 less over the Sleep Number’s i8.
It has 50 different settings, compared with Sleep Number’s 20 settings, but it’s hard to say whether anyone really needs this many. At a glance, the comfort components look like they’d provide a more-curve-conforming cradle than Sleep Number’s polyurethane foam layers.
But, of course we won’t be able to tell for sure until we lie upon the bed. The Solaire’s Talalay latex components suggest long-lasting however, since Sleep Number doesn’t divulge information about its foam components, we can’t declare that one mattress has more durability than another.
Whether you choose one of the twins or a king or something else You can purchase the Solaire with any dimension as an ordinary model. Or, if you choose the queen or king and want to upgrade, you can choose the Upper-Flex queen, the king, or the split king, all of which feature dual air chambers so sleep partners can pick their own firmness levels.
The standard model can be used on every bed frame (including bases that can be adjusted). But the Upper-Flex queen and King, as well as the split king option are designed to be specifically compatible with adjustable bases, which allow both sides to be adjusted independently.
Saatva Company offers adjustable frames. Saatva Company offers its own adjustable frames, such as the Lineal Adjustable Base Standard and the Lineal Adjustable Base Upper-Flex. With the Upper-Flex frame, couples can utilize a remote to place their shoulders and heads separately (for instance, one person can lie flat to sleep while the other sits up and reads or reads a book).
The upper-flex frame designed specifically for the split king Solaire also allows both individuals to raise their bodies separately. We couldn’t find enough high-quality owner reviews to include here We’ll revise this guide once we’re able to try the bed out ourselves and gather more reviews. Saatva Vs Nectar Reddit
In May 2019, Saatva introduced the Saatva HD, a hybrid mattress specifically designed for those who weigh between 300-500 pounds. We haven’t tested this product yet but we’re hoping to try it out in the near future.
Like the Saatva Classic and the Loom & Leaf Saatva HD Saatva HD has a pillowy quilted top layer but the dense coils and foam underneath appear to be able to hold greater weight. We’re especially curious about the pillow top of the HD, because experts told us that, for those who are heavier pillows can be especially susceptible to indentation.
The HD’s other components, however, seem promising as far as durability is concerned: There is a latex layer, which is typically stronger than memory foam, as well as a memory-foam layer, which has a density of 5 pounds per cubic foot (more than the 4-pounds-per-cubic-foot minimum that experts typically recommend for people who weigh over 200 pounds). Furthermore is that the HD’s 12 1/2-gauge coils are thicker than the coils in the other models of the company and the coils in rival models including The Big Fig.
But these aren’t necessarily the only things that impact the mattress’s longevity and, by itself, isn’t enough to make a good mattress. We plan on investigating these issues further in an forthcoming guide to mattresses for people who weigh more than 200 pounds.Saatva “strongly recommends” that you place this mattress on a sturdy platform bed with vertical center support.
If not, they advised us that you should purchase the HD along with its special “high durability” wood-slat foundation.Again, we spotted very few helpful user reviews. Once we’ve gathered enough to glean any trends and are able to test the mattress, we’ll provide an update. Saatva Vs Nectar Reddit
The Saatva Youth The company’s new bed made of coils and foams for children, costs more than some mattresses for adults. But it’s dual-sided, with the coil layer sandwiched between two foam layers, so the mattress can be able to grow with the kid.
The first side is intended for kids ages 3 through 7 years old, and it is made up of zoned polyfoam , which has densities ranging between 1.4 and 1.8 pounds per cubic foot.
On the second side, designed for kids older than that (the company states that it’s for that the age range is 8-12) the density of foam can be as high as 1.5 tons per cubic feet and somewhat less spongy due to its pairing with the firmer side of the coil unit. The 13 3/4 -gauge coils vary from 330 in the size of a twin, up to 350 in a twin XL, and 462 in the full.
The Saatva Youth is 10 inches thick and bunk-bed-friendly-as long as the bed’s guardrail is at least 5 inches higher than the mattress, for safety reasons. People who prefer natural materials might appreciate that the mattress is encased in a thick, quilted organic-cotton cover and uses thistle pulp (as opposed to chemical sprays or fiberglass) as the flame retardant. We haven’t yet tried this mattress and we haven’t seen any online reviews. But we hope to assess it for a future guide to kids’ mattresses.
The Saatva Youth is the company’s innovative coil-and-foam mattress for kids, costs more than some mattresses designed for adults. But it’s double-sided, featuring a coil layer sandwiched between two foam layers, so the mattress can grow along with a kid.
